Alis, so many things, events, moments, ups and downs in your article resonate with my story. I was glued to reading it, and at the same time had a recall of many memories that have been put to rest over the last 35 years, since moving to Australia. How that move impacted me, my (now late) husband, our two girls (1 and 2 yrs old at the time). What pressure it put on our marriage (we didn't manage as well as you and your husband); how it shaped our parenting (something we seemed to have gotten right), how we dealt with edge emotions of ageing parents, helplessness, hopelessness, how it all impacted our individual selves as grown ups growing up. Your story somehow illuminated my own struggles through vertical development in my own story. This now helps me through another struggle as I embark on this course of becoming a skilled coach in supporting people through vertical development, should they so choose. Feeling that I'll never be able to master it and I will never be able to hear the subtle narrative in the words of another human. Thanks for giving me a glimpse of hope, that maybe I might get it. It might sound that our story was not a happy one, however, it was the best story we could have weaved, and I wouldn't change it for anything.
